Takara Yamato : Part 2 : Initial Version Sectioned

Continuing the Takara Micro World Yamato, we get to the details; it is the IJN Yamato Initial version.  This is the Yamato coming out fresh from the factory.  The Yamato itself is a semi-finished model kit.  Only a little assembly needs to be done and they are ready for display.  Every section comes with a display stand.  But be very careful, once the stand is inserted to the ship section it almost cannot be separated anymore.  Well it actually can with 80% probability of breaking the stand.

Alright, let’s get on with the details.  I will not say too much but I will let more of the pictures do the explanation.

Section 1 : Bow
The Bow just came in a complete condition. Take it out, put it in the display stand and voila. No assembly is needed.  The side of the cross sectional has great details, it even has little person molded on to give the sense of scales.  You can see the details on the hull, how thick is the hull construction. And it seem to have several warehouse and some rooms in the bow.

Check out those tiny people

Section 2 : Forward Gun
This section has the main forward Gun.  Now this thing just needs no assembly, the Gun Turret has already put into the deck and you can remove it.  Now the main detail in here is the gun.  The gun even has the barbette under it.  So far only in the latest Yamato 1/350 scale model kit from Tamiya which has more than US$ 300 price the barbette came.  But this thing with such a reasonable price came with incredible detail.  The barbette also can be opened, and you can see the gun loading mechanism molded into it. Just perfect.  And another thing to notice, the gun barrel is molded with holes, a trend that just started to happen lately in model kit due to the introduction of Side Molding.  This Yamato comes light-years ahead.

Woowww, check out those ammunition chamber

Section 3 : Super Firing Main Gun
This section has the 2nd main gun, and minor assembly is needed.  Just put the turret on to it’s place then just put it in display.  The gun also has the same details as in section 2.  While the secondary gun has minor detail and no barbette. But still is a great detail in it.

Section 4 : The Bridge
This section is the bridge.  It needs mode assembly for some tiny details on it.  The bridge portside wall can be removed showing the details inside the bridge tower, even with the little person in it.  A nice detail.

Section 5 : The Funnel
This section has the most assembly to be done, since it has lots of guns and Gun Directors located on it.  Also has 2 secondary gun located in every sides.  This secondary gun is the main different between this version with the other 2, since after the refit, this guns will be removed in favor of smaller guns.

Section 6 : The Stern main Gun
This section housed the stern main gun and the stern secondary gun.  The construction also the same as section 3.  If you look carefully there are also 2 smaller boats located on each side under the deck.

Section 7 : The stern
This section is the stern or the main airplane hangar deck for Yamato.  2 float planes are available.  In this Initial version the plane is painted white.  You also need to assemble the 4 propellers and 1 ruder.  The deck platform is also removable, showing the internal detail of the hangar and the rails underneath the deck.

Okay, so that is all the section for Yamato Initial Version.  The combined sectioned is on the next part.
